A Case Converter for Developers: camelCase, snake_case, kebab-case and More, In Your Browser

Most online "case converter" pages are built for writers: UPPER CASE, lower case, Title Case and sometimes alternating case for memes. Developers need a different set: camelCase for variables, PascalCase for types, snake_case for Python and SQL, kebab-case for URLs and CSS, CONSTANT_CASE for environment variables. The Case Converter is built around that second list.

Words first, then the style

Converting between styles reliably means finding the words in the input first, whatever style it is already in. The tool splits on separators (spaces, underscores, hyphens, dots), on lower-to-upper humps (userId is user and Id), and between an acronym and the next word (XMLHttpRequest is XML, Http and Request). Once it has the word list, writing any output style is just a join. That is why the same box accepts user_account_id, user-account-id or UserAccountId and gives the same answer.

Acronyms

Style guides disagree on getAPIKey versus getApiKey. This tool re-cases each word as a whole, so you get getApiKey in camelCase and get_api_key in snake_case. If your codebase keeps acronyms uppercase, it is a one-line fix by hand; if it does not, the output is already right.

Lists, not just single names

With "Convert each line separately" on, you can paste a column of field names from a spreadsheet or a schema and get the whole column back in the new style. Turn it off to collapse a sentence into one slug or identifier.

How it compares

Editor extensions and built-in commands. If you are already in VS Code or a JetBrains IDE, a rename-with-case plugin or a multi-cursor transform is faster and can rename every usage of a symbol at once. This tool does not touch your code base; it only converts text you paste.

General text-case websites. They are fine for headings and sentences. They tend to lack the developer styles, and many handle the input on a server. Here it runs in your browser, so internal column names and unreleased API fields stay on your machine.

Verdict

For a quick conversion of a few names or a list, try the Case Converter. For renaming across a project, use your editor's refactoring tools. If you are working with lists afterwards, List Utilities can sort and de-duplicate them.
