Compare PDF

Compare the text of two PDFs side by side and see exactly what changed.

About this tool

Compares the text content of two PDFs and highlights exactly what was added or removed — useful for checking what changed between two drafts of a contract, report, or resume without reading both side by side.

How to use it

  1. Upload File A and File B — each is read and its text extracted automatically.
  2. Review the line-by-line diff — additions are highlighted green, removals red.
  3. Check the added/removed line count at the top for a quick summary of how much changed.

FAQ

Does this compare formatting, images, or layout?

No — only the extracted text is compared. Two PDFs that look different but contain the same text will show as identical.

Why does a PDF with no real changes still show differences?

Text extraction follows the order text is stored in the PDF, which can differ between two files even when they render identically - re-exporting a document from different software can reorder or reflow text at the extraction level.

Can I compare scanned PDFs?

Only if the scan has an embedded text layer (i.e. it's already searchable). A pure image scan has no extractable text to compare.
